Who is responsible

Cayenne is developed by David Jonathan Brookes. For privacy questions or requests: david@brookes.dev

Your recipes stay in your library

Cayenne stores the recipes, selected photos, meal plans and grocery lists you add on your device. It uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit services to synchronise your library between devices signed in to your Apple Account. The developer does not operate a server that receives your recipe library.

Imports and Apple Intelligence

When you import a link, Cayenne contacts that website to retrieve the page and may load recipe images from the source. Those websites receive normal network request information and have their own privacy policies.

The assistant and unstructured recipe imports use Apple Intelligence. Depending on availability and your model setting, processing may take place on your device or through Apple's Private Cloud Compute. The information needed to fulfil your request can include recipe text and relevant library information. See Apple's Apple Intelligence privacy information and iCloud privacy information.

Permissions you choose to grant

The system photo picker gives Cayenne access to photos you select. A recipe photo can become part of your saved library. For photo imports, text recognition reads the image before recipe extraction.

On iPhone and iPad, Copy to Reminders requests access to create a new list containing your chosen grocery items. This is a one-time copy, managed separately in Reminders afterwards. Cooking timers request alarm permission. Preferences and timer state are stored locally.

Analytics and advertising

The app does not include advertising, third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. It does not require a separate Cayenne account.

This website

The site itself does not add advertising cookies, analytics scripts or contact forms. The hosting provider processes network requests to deliver and protect the site. This site is hosted using ChatGPT Sites. Its hosting and, where required, access and account processing are governed by OpenAI's privacy policy.

If you contact support

Your email address, message and any details you choose to send will be used to answer your enquiry and investigate the issue. The developer relies on a legitimate interest in supporting the app. Email service providers process correspondence to deliver and store messages. Support messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve the enquiry, handle related follow-up and meet applicable legal obligations, then deleted. Please do not send passwords or private account credentials.

Deletion and your choices

You can delete recipes, meals and lists in the app. When iCloud sync is active, changes can synchronise to your other devices. Backups and exported copies are managed separately by their respective services.

Where applicable, you can request access, correction, deletion or restriction of personal information held by the developer, object to its processing, or request portability. Contact us using the details above. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or your local data protection authority.
